The scientists centered their reviews on the disastrous 2023 floods in the metropolitan area of Derna, Libya, which took the lives of more than 11,300 people and demonstrated how the increase in dirt erosion substantially added to the catastrophic toll of these unusual desert floodings. The research was actually posted nearly a year after the harmful flooding happened on the September 10, 2023.
